Employees are covered by certain UCAR benefits while on field projects.  Below is an outline of coverages should an employee have an emergency or require urgent care. Please be aware that employees injured on the job are covered under Workers' Compensation. Please refer to A Quick Guide to Workers' Compensation.

AM I COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE WHILE TRAVELING?

Yes, you are.  You have coverage for domestic and foreign travel as well as business and personal travel.

 

Cigna High Deductible Plan (HDHP)

Personal or Business Travel

Domestic Travel

Covers out-of-area treatment while in the United States. Otherwise, the treatment will be treated as an out-of-network service and you will have to meet your deductible and charges will be covered at 50%.

 

The Cigna plan has networks throughout the country. Before leaving for the field project, you can access Cigna's web site at www.cigna.com and print a provider directory for the location where you will be working. If you need to see a physician, use the directory to find an in-network provider near where you are located.

 

If a non-network physician is used, the treatment will be treated as an out-of-network service and you will have to meet your deductible and charges will be covered at 50%.

Foreign Travel

 

If outside of the United States, Cigna covers emergency and urgent care only.  Call Cigna directly, 1-866-763-8442, if assistance is needed.

 

Kaiser Permanente HMO

 

Personal or Business Travel

Domestic Travel

Covers out-of-area emergency treatment only.   Out-of-area is defined as outside the Kaiser Permanente service area.

 

Be aware that within 48 hours after inpatient hospital care commences, you must notify Kaiser Permanente's 24-hour emergency line, 303-338-4545.

Foreign Travel

 

Covers out-of-area emergency treatment only.   Out-of-area is defined as outside the Kaiser Permanente service area.
